THE ALTO NAJERILLA
The “Alto Najerilla” has very special orographic characteristics, altitude and orientation. It is a unique area for the growth of the vines. The grapes have very valued properties for the elaboration of aged wines.
Nearby vines and old vines
Bodegas David Moreno controls 130 hectares of vines, all of them are less than 6 km from the winery. The age of the plants goes from 35 to 50 years old, but some of them are older and almost centenarian. In our area we do not have land concentration, so we decided to maintain our vineyards as they were in origin: small plots.

Climate
The influence of Atlantic clima, with cold winters, hot summers and long and soft autumns, has as a consecuence a perfect and slow maduration to reach the characteristics that we look for in a grape. And all these facts, give to our wines the balance and elegance that we are known for.
Soils
The soil is mainly clay and lime ferrous in a balanced composition, slighlty alkaline and rich in organic material. Our vines have a moderate water availability during the summer.

Badarán is one of the máximum exponent of old Garnacha, known by the special qualities that our terroir gives to the grapes and with a fine reputation arround the world.

Nuestra bodega disfruta de un emplazamiento privilegiado. Está situada a 8 kilómetros de los monasterios de Yuso y Suso de San Millán de la Cogolla en el Alto Najerila, a los pies de la Sierra de la Demanda.

VIÑEDO SINGULAR
This vines were planted from 1930 to 1947, and they produce our best garnachas. Their location, more than 645 metres altitude, limited production, strength and growth of the fruits, in the heart of Rioja alta, are the perfect characteristics to be classified as “Viñedo Singular” (Singular Vineyard), the new form under DOCA Rioja.
Character of our varieties:
OLD GARNACHA, TEMPRANILLO & VIURA
The variety Tempranillo give us estructured wines which are also fine and elegant, it is the most representative grape in the vineyard of Rioja. Very suitable for the ageing in barrique. The Garnacha gives to the wines a unique fruity expression, freshness and subtlety. It is the second Rioja variety in importance, and one of the flagships of our winery. The Viura variety provides delicate wines with a nice and subtle aroma, good freshness and well balanced. It is the most planted white grape variety in our region. Our viuras are known for the old age of our vines, with low production and good structure in the grape. There is a perfect adaptation of this variety to our terroir
