Wisdom, effort, calm
Two generations together in the love for our terroir, the vineyards and the desire to share their wines.
David Moreno decided to quit his job as a Technical engineer in Barceolna to return his hometown and put in practice his wine knowledge that is a heritage of his father and grandfather, and make his dream come true.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE WINERY
The construction of the current winery has been expanded little by little, being adapted to the growth of the business, the new technologies and the needs of our clients. A project, a winery; finally a dream that has been shaped step by step with much effort and above all, much passion.
To be open for our clients has always been the philosophy of the winery. The term Wine Tourism has always had a special meaning for David Moreno, because for us it has been important even when it was not something usual at all. Now our winery is one of the leaders in this field.
1988 – nowadays
1991- 1998- 2013 are the years in which our cellars were born. The undergroud cellars with clay and stone walls called “Don Pociano” (1991), “La Gran Cueva” (1997), and “Abuelo Damian” (2013), give to our wines the best conditions of temperature and humidity that are necessary for its correct ageing and conservation in the bottle. There is a corner in “La Gran Cueva” where we will find “El Santuario Vobiscum” (the Vobiscum Sanctuary), a lattice space that keeps a small lot of barriques of the best French oak, where our Vobiscum is aged, signature wine. From the garden of the centenary olive trees and the shop to the cellars, the walk through the winery will show the visitor many corners and spots that speak about our history, culture and passion of David Moreno about wine.
GEMMA MORENO & PAULA MORENO
Gemma and Paula get involved in the winery following the steps of their father, their best master and example of hardwork and passion. At the same time they are continuing their studies in Wine and Management.
Nowadays both of them, with David, are managing the winery continuing the family legacy and the project that has been reached with so much effort. One of the Rioja wineries best known for its wine tourism, which gathering tradition and innovation maintains its wine range and adds new exciting proposals. Passion and soul go hand in hand putting together two generations with lots of love for the wine tradition.
David Moreno Peña receives the Mercurio award, given by the Marketing Club of Rioja in the category of Commercial Strategy.
GUARDAVIÑAS DE DAVID
“El Guardaviñas de David” is built in this year, it is located in “La Atalaya”. This is a key spot for the development of our Wine Tourism. A place where lunches and tastings are enjoyed by our visitors, who with the visit “A Pie de Viña” get to know this very typical construction of the winemakers.
BEST OF WINE TOURISM AWARD
The winery, led by David, receives the award “BEST OF WINE TOURISM”, for the innovative experiences of Wine Tourism.
ADAPTATION TO THE CURRENT TIMES
The shop and the reception suffer a great transformation, specialy when it comest to the architecture and visual facilities.
Integral reform of the restaurant. A space surrounded by barriques in the middle of the cellar, but totally conditioned to enjoy foods, dinners and other events.
AWARD TO THE BEST WINERY OPEN FOR WINE TOURISM
David and Gemma are awarded with this price as “The best spanish winery open for Wine Tourism”, given by the “Asociación Española de Ciudades del Vino” (Spanish Asociation of Wine Cities).
It was inaugurated with a screening that has been very important for the winery. Nowadays we present novelties that show the sweet generational replacement that is taking place in the winery.
