THE CHARACTERISTICS OF AN AREA
EL ALTO NAJERILLA
The High Najerilla, with its special terrain, mid-altitude and orientation, is a unique and differentiated area for the cultivation of vines. The fruit obtained from its vineyards is highly appreciated for the production of great wines for ageing.
NEARBY VINEYARDS AND OLD VINES
The vineyards that the winery manages, the vast majority of which are goblet-trained and all within 6 kilometres of the facilities, have an average altitude of 600 metres above sea level. Grapes from old vines (vineyards with an average age of between 35 and 50 years, some of which exceed these figures and are almost a hundred years old) are located between Badarán and Cárdenas. There is no land consolidation in this area, an important factor in preserving the typicality of the terrain.

Climate
The Atlantic-influenced climate, with cold winters, warm summers and long, mild autumns, causes a slow ripening process that is perfect for achieving the qualities we are looking for in the grapes and which give this wine balance and elegance.
Soil
Mostly calcareous clay and ferrous clay, with a balanced composition, slightly alkaline, rich in organic matter, and with moderate water availability during the summer.
Location
The town of Badarán has recently become an ambassador for the Garnacha Riojana variety of old vines, where the terroir in which they were born provides them with unique and highly valued qualities.

CHARACTER FROM OUR VARIETIES
OLD GARNACHA, TEMPRANILLO AND VIURA VARIETIES
The Tempranillo variety provides wines with structure, finesse and elegance. Very noble, and thanks to its volume and structure, it withstands ageing in wood like no other.
The Garnacha grape variety envelops the wines it touches lightly, giving them a unique fruity expression. Freshness and subtlety are other adjectives that best represent it.
The Viura variety provides wines with delicate apple aromas, balanced and easy to drink. Fresh and aromatic, with great structure.
